Are we turning our basement into a dollhouse?

December 31, 2011

You might think so based on the most recent projects……

Our tiny tub arrived last Friday! The plumber installed it today. It’s the only tub that would fit in the available space without us ripping out and reconfiguring the whole bathroom. It comfortably bathes one small child OR two Pomeranians OR a full-grown adult from the knees down. Not much else will fit! If we have a friend who needs to bath three Pomeranians then they’re plum out of luck.

The ceiling is also going to be a tad bit low……6′ 10′ when finished. I’m 5′ 3″ so that’s plenty of room for me, but will other people feel like they are in a fun house?

We realized that even after moving the hot water heater to make a smaller boiler room, our sectional sofa still will not fit into the new living space. When we bought the sofa 5 years ago we purchased the largest one available – 12ft along the back. Needless to say the homes in Colorado and much more generously sized (in our price range) and owning a giant sofa was no big deal. Fast forward to our tiny house in Michigan and we barely got it down the stairs when we moved in. We have now come to the realization that it needs to be reconfigured. We will make a mini-sofa out of the chaise and the end – the rest will go to good will.

This is the first time I have ever seen a tub that small! Great job so far, you are the only couple I know that could complete a renovation this size and still be happily married at the end of the day!
