Vegetable Progress!

May 15, 2011
The picture above is when I planted endive, arugula and lettuce sprouts from my Frog Holler CSA. They sell them at the farmer market and I wanted to get a jump start in April. I was told these vegetables can tolerate a light frost. Thank goodness, the weather has been wacky! We have had two nights in the 30’s since I purchased them.

Below are the veggies this weekend. It’s amazing to look at the photos and see how much they’ve grown.
You can see the edge of my seedling kit in the picture. I became inpatient and stuck it outside in April. All of the sprouts died expect a few arugula, and one or two spinach. I have since planted them in another raised box along the deck. Check back in a few weeks to see how they have grown.

My neighbors have a huge vegetable garden. They divided rhubarb, chives and garlic early this Spring and gave me a few of each plant.
